Singer Lim Young-woong has announced that he will not release his upcoming new album in CD format.
Let’s find out first why a singer whose previous album CD sales surpassed one million copies made such a decision.
Lim Young-woong is set to make a comeback with his second full album on the 29th of next month.
Yesterday, his agency released an official statement to inform that Lim Young-woong’s second regular album ‘I’m Hero 2’ will not be released as a physical album, meaning there will be no actual CD.
Instead, there are plans to make an album book containing photos and more of Lim Young-woong for fans who wish to celebrate the album’s release.
Regarding this decision, Lim Young-woong’s side explained that recently, many K-pop fans listen to music digitally, and the competition among fans to buy CDs to boost album sales of their favorite artist has caused both burdens for fans and environmental concerns.
Accordingly, Lim Young-woong’s new songs will be available on various music sites, but will not be counted towards album sales charts.
